Ootd: Rain Gear!

Oh Boston, you're so wild! Snow, then rain, then hail and snow again. It's a slushy mess outside today. Don't use bad weather as an excuse to look a hot mess. Lol. A simple scarf and bright rain boots will spice up any outfit. Here's my look:

I rolled and tucked my hair away so I'll avoid frizz .

Stay dry y'all!

I don't want to wear the boots until fall is officially in full swing... Check them out!

Meatball09 in Ivory
These beauties will work wonders with my fall wardrobe! They are a combination of crisp canvas and leather.   The toe and belt are made of leather. While the body of the boot is canvas. The buckles are made of  a warn metal and the heels are rubber. (Although, they look like wood.)

Here is an idea  for an outfit to pair the boots with.

Smush!

A Brief Nail Polish Review ;-)

A quick trip to Urban Outfitters, led me to my new fav nail polish color! UO Nail Laquer in "Smush" .  Not all blue polishes are created equal.  Many wash out your tone or cause your skin to look dry. "Smush" does the opposite. A bit lighter than "Tiffany Box Blue" it's the perfect pigment for any complexion. It will add a fun bright hue to your summer wardrobe.

"Smush" will require a minimum of 2 coats. (I applied 2 and was happy with the end result.) While the polish does go on easily, it does not apply evenly with one coat. ( You'll be left with those dreaded streaks in your polish. ) So, be sure to use a base coat. Remember,no manicure is complete with out a top coat.

This polish sells for $5.00 at Urban Outfitters. I'll be rocking it through early fall!

A Cigar box gone Girly! ;-)

Hello Friends! I don't know about you but, whenever I go to my parents house... I look for items I can take to my apartment and make mine. HA! (Thanks Mom!) Last week my parents went to a flea market and my mom picked up a couple old cigar boxes. Well, I took one home and turned it into a jewelry box! I love it. Here is what you will need if you'd like to make one too!

Items needed:

Cigar box
Old tank top
Egg carton
Scissors

Steps:
  1.  clean any debris off of your cigar box
  2. cut the top and lip of the egg carton off
  3. place egg carton in box and cut to size ( make sure carton fits in cigar box with no edges hanging over)
  4. Cut the straps off of your tank top

  5. wrap fabric around egg carton (you're wrapping fabric around so the egg carton won't slip each time you are reaching for your jewelry) and tuck extra fabric into space on either side of cigar box
6. fill with your jewelry
7. ENJOY!

Ring... and it's not the telephone.

This BEAUTIFUL ring was designed by the fabulous Jai Underhill. I met Jai while I was student teaching at the Neighborhood School in Jamaica Plain MA. Now, I knew Jai was an artist because she is the art teacher at the Neighborhood school. However, I didn't know she designed jewelry until my student teaching position had come to an end. The staff and students at Neighborhood School threw a going away party for me. At the party Jai presented me with this gorgeous pearl bracelet.

Once I discovered Jai's not so hidden, hidden talent, I asked her to help me. I had two rings I received as a teenager. One from my mother. The other from my godmother. I wanted  to be able to wear the rings in a way that represented my current sense of style. Enter Jai.
Jai took these two rings and turned them into this:
Jai's attention to detail is amazing. From the angles of the diamonds. To the twists and turns of the gold. I love how the precious metal cascades down the sides and then coils  around the finger. My picture does this ring no justice!

It's a one of a kind piece and I'm so proud to be the owner!

That's my 2 cents!

Thanks Jai!
