Upcycled Vase

Before you drag all of your recycling to the blue bin and to the curb, scan it for your glass bottles. Wine, Frappucino, even soda bottles if they are cute enough. Dig them out, get some twine and a glue gun. With these items you are on your way to a beautiful vase. This vase will work wonderfully for your dried flowers. However, it is gardeners twine so you may also put real flowers in it (I'm just not sure if washing will compromise the longevity of your new beautiful vase.)

What you'll need:
Recycled glass bottle
Gardeners twine
glue gun

Instructions:

  • Clean your glass bottle and dry thoroughly
  • Heat glue gun
  • Place one dab of glue toward the top of your glass
  • Press twine into the glue. Once it adheres, begin to slowly and tightly wrap twine around bottle.
  • Begin wrapping by going over the dab of glue and twine (to hide it) then wrap down
  • Continue down the length of the bottle
  • To finish, place a strip of glue horizontally and press twine into glue. Snip off end

Fill with beautiful dried flowers and you're done!!

Does anybody know what time it is? "Fall Crawl" Day 4!

As I'm sprucing up my apartment for fall, I feel the need to buy a new clock. The time will be changing soon so, why not have something cute to look at! Check out this super cool dropped numeral clock! Love, I think I'll be buying this... (should be available at Target.)
On another note, today is day four of the "Fall Crawl". Head over to Reading Confetti by: Lorie and check out these awesome treats for birds. I am the daughter of a bird enthusiast so these treats have me quite excited! heheheh. I'm sure the cardinals and sparrows that love to hang out at my parents house will be excited too!  Here is a sneak peak at what Lorie has created with her adorable son.

Enjoy!

A Cigar box gone Girly! ;-)

Hello Friends! I don't know about you but, whenever I go to my parents house... I look for items I can take to my apartment and make mine. HA! (Thanks Mom!) Last week my parents went to a flea market and my mom picked up a couple old cigar boxes. Well, I took one home and turned it into a jewelry box! I love it. Here is what you will need if you'd like to make one too!

Items needed:

Cigar box
Old tank top
Egg carton
Scissors

Steps:
  1.  clean any debris off of your cigar box
  2. cut the top and lip of the egg carton off
  3. place egg carton in box and cut to size ( make sure carton fits in cigar box with no edges hanging over)
  4. Cut the straps off of your tank top

  5. wrap fabric around egg carton (you're wrapping fabric around so the egg carton won't slip each time you are reaching for your jewelry) and tuck extra fabric into space on either side of cigar box
6. fill with your jewelry
7. ENJOY!

You Know the Saying...

"One man's trash, is another man's treasure."
Here is a peek at my newest find! This beautiful, cherry red, sewing table was left by the curb on trash day. As I walked by staring at its wonder, I heard a voice say "If you want it, take it." I'm serious, there was an old lady on the other side of the fence. I'm not being facetious. ;-)

The old sewing table has it's new life as a desk in my living room. It's a perfect fit. I love that the top of the table opens out. It opens out because, there is supposed to be a sewing machine inserted in the space. I will re-purpose it for crafts or food presentation when friends come over.
My stepfather is going to make an insert to fill in the gap.
Note: Always look for furniture finds on trash day! Even sketchy looking furniture can take on a new life after a good cleaning and a coat of paint! Just sayin'.

That's my 2 cents!
